We were honored this week to have SSG Travis Mills and his team visit our headquarters at Made4Heroes. Travis Mills is one of five quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive his injuries.
Travis’s story sheds light on the daily inward and outward struggles of our wounded veterans and the difficult rehabilitation processes they face. Travis endured painful and anxious days of rehabilitation so that he could regain the strength to live his life to the fullest. With enormous willpower and endurance, the unconditional love of his family, and a generous amount of faith, Travis shocked everyone with his remarkable recovery. Even without limbs, he still swims, dances with his wife, rides mountain bikes, and drives his daughter to school.
Travis Mills has inspired countless comrades in their road to recovery. We saw first-hand why he is such a great role model for his fellow servicemen and servicewomen in their journey to assimilate to everyday life. His positive attitude and overall jovial demeanor makes him the perfect role model for his recovering comrades. No boundary is enough to hold Travis back. He is a true American hero and we were honored to have him visit our plant.
We manufactured a custom made coin display for Travis in order to hold all of his challenge coins from his years of service and keynote speeches that he makes across the country. We also customized a shadow box with his slogan, “Never Give Up, Never Quit.”
Travis Mills and The Travis Mills Foundation’s values easily align with our values of honoring our heroes. If it wasn’t for the sacrifices that these young men and women endure during their service for this country, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do today. Freedom is not free and we want to honor those heroes that deserve recognition. SSG Travis Mills is a genuine American hero, and for his incredible sacrifice, we are forever in his debt.
